– The Black Atlantic’s excellent EP Darkling, I Listen is available to download on a ‘name your price’ basis from the band’s Bandcamp – read the review here

– Tom Stephens excellent second EP Barricades is available totally free of charge from his website. The full review can be found here.

Visit The Weeknd and download not only his storming debut House of Balloons, but follow ups Thursday and Echoes of Silence. House of Balloons can also be found at No. 6 in the Albums of 2011

– Pay Dark Mean’s Bandcamp a visit and download Happy Banjo for free (full album review here)

– Visit the Links section of this blog for the latest in sample MP3s and reviews from some very informed people. All of which are much better than me.

– Get onto The Boxer Rebellion’s re-invigorated website and download a free 2 track EP featuring a live version of the excellent Step Out of the Car  (as featured in this postor whichever re-mix or live version is available at your time of visiting.

– Sign up on Topspin media’s website for their sem-regular ‘Free Fridays’ email. These are the guys who make the flashy download widgets so they’ve got first hand on all the best free tracks.

Daytrotter offer a fantastic array of live sessions all of which are, of course, free. All they require is registration but this is pretty painless and is thoroughly worthwhile.

– Singer/Songwriter Tom Stephens has made his debut EP Division available for free. Get it here or visit him here.

– The debut album from London-based band Capital is available in exchange for nothing on their bandcamp site.

– Mumford & Sons excellent non-album track Sister is available for free download from by clicking here (as mentioned in this post).

Dark Mean’s excellent EP Music Box (reviewed here) is available along with debut frankencottage over at their official website for free.  It’s gone now, but they’ve since released their full length debut album. Also, you can still read the review of Music Box.

– The Black Atlantic’s great album Reverence For Fallen Trees is available for free on their official website (as mentioned in this post). They’ve also a new EP coming out which will funded by fans. Read about it here

– Rural LifeYours, EliFree Download

– Jefferies Tin offer free tracks on both their Facebook and Last FM pages, and recently made an exclusive new track available on their own site.

– Both KEXP and NPR podcasts offer a vast amount of great live shows and sessions.

– Worthwhile downloads occasionally turn up on the Last FM Free MP3s section

– And there’s always iTunes’ weekly Single Of The Week offering
